Kibabii University has announced that teaching and learning for Semester One of the 2026/2027 academic year will resume on Tuesday 3 November 2026 at 8:00am.

The notice is dated Saturday 31 October 2026, Nairobi Leo reported the same day. It says the resumption follows the conclusion of the industrial action on Friday 30 October, that a new teaching timetable will be issued, that teaching will be accelerated to recover lost time, and that students should clear outstanding fees and complete semester registration.

The background matters. On 6 October, Kibabii's Senate suspended Semester One indefinitely after student unrest that followed the reported death of a student in an alleged attack on the night of 5 October — one student dead and three injured, as reported at the time. Students were ordered to vacate the university by 3pm on 6 October. No reopening date was given then.

This 31 October notice is the first dated resumption notice from Kibabii found since the closure. It is the third per-university resumption notice Campus Pulse has been able to verify after the national strike deal, after Multimedia University of Kenya's memo and Pwani University's revised calendar.

Kibabii's 20 November graduation — at which Governor Kenneth Lusaka is to receive an honorary doctorate — was reported earlier in the week, and an AI upskilling train-the-trainer programme at the university concluded on 28 October. Neither is affected by this notice on the information available.
