Pwani University has revised its 2026/2027 academic calendar, and the dates are now set.
First-semester lectures run from Monday 2 November to Tuesday 9 December 2026. First-semester examinations follow from Wednesday 10 December to Monday 22 December 2026. The university's 14th graduation ceremony is set for Wednesday 26 November 2026.
Then the Christmas and New Year break runs from 22 December 2026 to 4 January 2027. Second semester runs from 4 January to 19 March 2027, with examinations from 22 March to 2 April 2027. Continuous assessment tests are set for 15–19 February and 8–12 March 2027. Field attachment and teaching practice run from 5 April to 30 July 2027.
The calendar comes from an internal memo dated 30 October 2026, from the Registrar (Academic and Student Affairs), Dr Leonard Kiti Alii, and was approved by the Senate, according to Education News, which reported the memo on Saturday 31 October 2026.
The reason given is to recover teaching time lost during the lecturers' strike, and to accommodate preparations for the 2027 General Election.
This is the second per-university resumption notice Campus Pulse has been able to verify after the national strike deal — after Multimedia University of Kenya's memo, published here earlier today. Most universities had still not published their own revised timetables as of Saturday morning.
What we could not verify: the memo itself was not seen directly — this story rests on Education News' report of it, and the draft must say so. It was not confirmed whether the memo has been published on Pwani University's own website. No statement from Pwani's student leadership on the new dates was found.
