Mount Kenya University has signed a five-year agreement that opens a career pathway to Germany for its graduates.
The memorandum of understanding was signed on 26 October 2026 at the university's main campus in Thika, with the German organisation Junge Zukunft gGmbH, TUKO reported on 29 October. The university's Vice Chancellor signed for MKU; René Pernull and Kadir Kaan signed for Junge Zukunft.
The deal covers graduates in Nursing, Social Work, Early Childhood Development and Special Needs Education. It provides for German language training to B2 level through MKU's Centre for Professional Development, and recruitment exercises twice a year.
That is the verified core. What the deal does not yet answer publicly: how many graduates will be recruited in each round, what the selection criteria are, who pays for the language training and travel, and what employment terms await those recruited. None of that is stated in the reporting seen, and none of it is invented here.
Separately, MKU's 30th graduation ceremony is set for Friday 4 December 2026 at the Happy Valley Grounds, with the graduation list as at 30 October published on the university's website. Names and registration numbers from that list must not be reproduced. Earlier in October, the university held a White Coat Ceremony for 180 first-year Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery students at the Mwai Kibaki Convention Centre on 2 October.
What we could not verify: recruitment numbers per round, selection criteria, who bears the costs of training and travel, employment terms in Germany, or any statement from Junge Zukunft beyond the signing as reported. No MKU-specific resumption notice dated 29–31 October was found.
