USIU-Africa are Kenya's university esports champions. The university won the Call of Duty: Mobile Siku Zombo University Esports Tournament, taking home KSh100,000, Kenya Online News reported.

The winning squad was Leroy Barasa, known as "Raging", Bryan Bernard, Jesse Kariuki, Ajewole Pelumi and Miguel Koikai, known as "Denarius". Dedan Kimathi University of Technology finished second, Multimedia University third and the University of Eldoret fourth. Daystar, Meru, Zetech and Chuka universities also took part.

The tournament was organised by gaming company Carry1st as part of its COD Siku Zombo Tour. Online qualifiers ran from 17 to 25 October, and the grand finals were held at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) in Nairobi on Thursday 29 October.

"Seeing the passion and energy of the Kenyan COD community throughout the Siku Zombo tour has been incredible. From the campus rivalries to the unique Nganya activations, the turnout shows that there's indeed active local enthusiasm for what we do," Carry1st project manager Adekoya "Andre" Ayomide said, as reported by The Standard. He said the company intended to continue supporting local players through competitive opportunities and community activities.

The finals also featured side activities including Beat the Influencer, a scavenger hunt and a Campus Showdown, and the competition followed the launch of a dedicated server for Kenyan Call of Duty: Mobile players, intended to improve connectivity and gameplay.
