Past papers are the closest thing to a preview of your exam. They show you how KU sets questions, which topics come back year after year, and how much you are expected to write in two hours. The problem has never been that past papers do not exist. The problem is knowing which of the dozens of sites, apps and WhatsApp forwards actually has your unit, and which ones are dead links, ten-year-old scans or paywalls with no price on the door.
This list was checked place by place on 6 November 2026. What each entry offers, what it costs and how to get in was confirmed on the page itself. One address changed while checking: KU's old e-learning address no longer loads, and the university's homepage now points to KUSOMA — that is entry 3 below. Start at the top. The first two are KU's own, they are free, and they hold the real set papers.
## 1. KU Library past papers — maktaba.ku.ac.ke (MyLOFT)
Link: https://maktaba.ku.ac.ke/
Cost: Free for KU students and staff.
Needs KU login: Yes — your KU corporate email.
This is the first place to check, and the one most students skip. The university library runs its past papers through its e-resources platform, MyLOFT, and the library's own FAQ gives the exact route.
How to get in:
1. Go to maktaba.ku.ac.ke.
2. On the left-hand side, click the E-resources tab. That takes you to the MyLOFT login page.
3. Log in with your username and password. The past papers link is listed in the e-resources category.
4. If you have not registered on MyLOFT, click the Signup link on the login page. Register with your KU corporate email, then check that inbox for the confirmation link. Pick your category — staff, undergraduate or postgraduate — and wait for library staff to approve the account. If you forget your password, the Forgot Password link sends reset instructions to your corporate email.
You can also register directly at https://elibraryku.remotexs.co/user/register and log in later at https://elibraryku.remotexs.co/user/login. The same MyLOFT account also opens the library's e-books and e-journals, on or off campus.
Best for: The most recent official papers, plus e-books and journals for the same unit.
Watch out for: Registration is not instant — the account waits for library approval, so do it before exam week, not during it. Carry your student ID if you go to the library in person; the library's FAQ says you need it to use the library, and you can use your national ID and admission letter until the student ID is issued, though borrowing needs the student ID itself.
## 2. KU Past Papers Archive — pastpapers.ku.ac.ke
Link: https://pastpapers.ku.ac.ke/
Cost: Free.
Needs KU login: No — the papers open as PDFs straight from the archive.
This is KU's own public archive of set examination papers, run as a DSpace repository. It is the only place on this list where you can open a real KU paper without logging in anywhere, and it is the only source here confirmed to hold papers from the 2023/2024 academic year.
What is actually there: Regular programme papers, Institutional Based Programme (IBP) papers and Digital School of Virtual and Open Learning (DSVOL) papers, across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Papers confirmed in the archive include BAC 820 International Finance and BAC 821 Finance Seminar (Special/Supplementary Examinations 2023/2024, April/May 2024), LCC 309 Commercial Law I (Bachelor of Laws, 1st Semester 2023/2024), UCU 110 Communication Skills (Supplementary/Special Examination, April/May 2023), KRM 308 Annual Crop Production (BSc Agriculture, 2nd Semester 2020/2021), ARE 837 Church History (2014/2015) and SZL 587 Problems of Water Pollution (2009/2010). The collection runs back to at least 2009/2010.
How to get in:
1. Open pastpapers.ku.ac.ke.
2. Search by your unit code (for example BAC 820, LCC 309, UCU 110) or by the unit title.
3. Open the paper and download the PDF. Each paper carries the full exam header — academic year, semester, degree programme, date and time, and the instructions.
Best for: Free, no-login access to genuine set papers, including the most recent ones in this list.
Watch out for: Coverage is uneven. Some units have several years of papers, others have one or none. The archive is strongest for business, law, education and agriculture units; if your unit is missing, move to entries 3 and 4 below rather than assuming the paper does not exist.
## 3. KUSOMA Digital Learning Platform — kusoma.ku.ac.ke
Link: https://kusoma.ku.ac.ke/
Cost: Free for KU students.
Needs KU login: Yes — your KU corporate email.
This is KU's learning management system, now called KUSOMA, and it is where your most recent papers are most likely to appear first. Lecturers upload their course materials here — course outlines, lecture notes and PowerPoint presentations, recommended reading, videos and forums — and past papers and CATs posted for a unit land on the unit's own page.
Note the address. The old e-learning.ku.ac.ke address no longer resolves, and Kenyatta University's own homepage now links its E-Learning button to kusoma.ku.ac.ke. If a guide or an old bookmark still sends you to the old address, use the KUSOMA link instead.
How to get in:
1. Go to kusoma.ku.ac.ke, or follow the E-Learning link on the ku.ac.ke homepage.
2. Log in with your KU corporate email and password.
3. Open your unit's course page and check the course materials section.
4. Download anything posted for revision, and check the forums — lecturers sometimes answer questions about the paper format there.
Best for: The current semester's own papers and CATs, posted by your own lecturer, matched exactly to what you were taught.
Watch out for: What is there depends entirely on your lecturer. Some units have a full set of revision papers; others have only the outline and notes. The platform would not load from every connection on the day this list was checked — if it stalls, go through the E-Learning link on ku.ac.ke's homepage rather than the old address. Distance learners in the Digital School of Virtual and Open Learning start at the school's own site, dsvol.ku.ac.ke, for student resources, and their set papers sit in the same archive as entry 2 — search it for DSVOL.
## 4. Kenyaplex — kenyaplex.com
Link: https://www.kenyaplex.com/questionpapers/?institution=kenyatta+university
Cost: Free to read on the page.
Needs KU login: No.
Kenyaplex has the widest KU collection of any site outside the university itself. Its Kenyatta University index is organised by course, and the papers open in full on the page — no download, no account, no paywall in the way.
What is actually there: Papers for Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Economics, Bachelor of Environmental Studies, Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Media Studies, Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Public Health, Bachelor of Science in Hospitality and Tourism Management, Bachelor of Science in Forensic Science, Bachelor of Science in Food, Nutrition and Dietetics, Bachelor of Arts (Language and Literary Studies), Bachelor of Business Administration in Management, Postgraduate Diploma in Education, Diploma in Education, Master of Arts, Master of Environmental Planning and Management, and the university common units (UCU) — including UCU 111 Critical Thinking and Problem Solving and UCU 103 Critical and Creative Thinking. Individual papers seen on the site include SET 211 Engineering Mechanics 1 (2008/2009), AGE 102 Physical Geography (2007/2008), EET 101 Macro-Economics Theory 1 CAT II (2008/09), DBA 303 Organisation Behaviour (January 2011), BMS 201 Computer Programming, SMA 305 Complex Analysis I, SCH 200 Atomic Structure and Chemical Bonding, and LPR 401 Jurisprudence.
How to get in:
1. Open the KU index page above.
2. Pick your course from the list, or use the search box and type your unit code.
3. Open the paper and read it on the page. If your paper is missing, the site invites you to post it yourself using the "Post a past paper" link.
Best for: Breadth. If your unit is not in the official archive, this is the most likely place to find an older version of it, and the common units (UCU) are well covered.
Watch out for: Age. The papers sampled on the KU pages are mostly from 2007 to 2011. They are still good for question style and recurring topics, but check them against your current unit outline — course content and codes have changed since then. No marking schemes were seen on the KU pages.
## 5. StudoKe — KU Student Hub — studoke.com
Link: https://studoke.com/
Cost: Free and paid items — some materials are marked free, others paid.
Needs KU login: No — a StudoKe account.
StudoKe is a Kenyan student platform built by students, and its KU Student Hub is made specifically for Kenyatta University: notes, past papers and marking schemes, plus flashcards and a timetable. The platform's own pages list lecture notes from KU's Institute of Open Learning, including AEN 400 Advanced Theoretical Studies in Grammar, AEN 202 Phonology of English and AEN 302 English Grammar and Usage.
How to get in:
1. Open studoke.com — the full web app works in the browser.
2. Find the KU Student Hub and search by your unit or course.
3. Open the paper or notes. Items are labelled free or paid on the listing, so check before you commit.
4. The Android and iPhone apps are also offered as direct downloads from studoke.com; the site notes its store listings were under verification, so the website is the reliable route for now.
Best for: KU-specific papers with marking schemes — the one thing most other sources on this list do not offer — plus notes for the same units.
Watch out for: It is a marketplace as well as a library. Students upload materials and earn when they are downloaded, so quality varies by uploader. Check the paper's header (unit code, semester, year) before you revise from it, and confirm any price on the listing itself. Support is at support@studoke.com.
## 6. Scribd — scribd.com
Link: https://www.scribd.com/ (search "Kenyatta University" and your unit code)
Cost: Free to preview in the browser; full download needs a Scribd account and subscription. The pages opened for this list do not state a price, so check it on Scribd before paying anything.
Needs KU login: No — a Scribd account.
Scribd is a document-sharing site, and KU students have uploaded real set papers there. Two confirmed on the site: EFN 312 Philosophical Competency in Education (Bachelor of Education, with questions on philosophy of education and the Competency Based Curriculum) and EFN 204 Sociology of Education (Digital School of Virtual and Open Learning, Second Semester 2017/2018). Both read in full on the page.
How to get in:
1. Open scribd.com and search for "Kenyatta University" plus your unit code — for example "Kenyatta University EFN 312".
2. Open the document and read the preview in the browser.
3. For a full PDF download, Scribd asks for an account and a subscription. Read the price on the page first, and try the preview before you pay.
Best for: Education units (EFN, EMP) and DSVOL papers that are thin elsewhere.
Watch out for: Upload quality varies — some documents are clean scans, others are typed copies with errors. Match the header (unit code, semester, year) against your course before trusting it.
## 7. CourseHero — coursehero.com
Link: https://www.coursehero.com/sitemap/schools/79051-Kenyatta-University/courses/5937535-ALT302/ (Kenyatta University course pages; search the school for your unit)
Cost: Free to browse previews; full documents need an account, unlocked by uploading your own study documents or by membership. No price is stated on the pages opened for this list.
Needs KU login: No — a CourseHero account.
CourseHero holds a large set of KU course files uploaded by students — past papers, CATs, notes and assignments. The ALT 302 Poetry course page alone lists 17 files, including an ALT 302 CAT 1, 2020/2021 coursework and Digital School literature notes edited by Mr Charles Kebaya and Dr Wanevey Olembo. The previews are readable on the page.
How to get in:
1. Open the Kenyatta University pages on CourseHero and search for your unit code.
2. Read the preview of the file to check it is the right paper.
3. To unlock the full document, CourseHero asks you to upload your own study documents or become a member. Read the terms on the page before you upload anything.
Best for: Literature, humanities and education units, and CATs as well as exam papers.
Watch out for: Do not upload work that is not yours, and do not upload exam papers you paid for elsewhere. The free route costs you your own notes, so weigh that before you use it.
## 8. CollegeSidekick — collegesidekick.com
Link: https://www.collegesidekick.com/ (search your unit code)
Cost: Free to read on the page.
Needs KU login: No.
CollegeSidekick is another student document-sharing site, and it holds KU Digital School papers that are hard to find elsewhere. Confirmed on the site: EMP 403 Economics of Education and Educational Planning, a Digital School of Virtual and Open Learning paper for the Bachelor of Education, 1st Trimester 2021/2022, readable in full on the page.
How to get in:
1. Open collegesidekick.com and search for your unit code — for example "EMP 403 Kenyatta University".
2. Open the document and read it on the page.
Best for: DSVOL and education papers from 2021/2022 that do not appear in the official archive.
Watch out for: A smaller KU collection than Scribd or CourseHero, so use it as a second stop for education units rather than a first stop for everything.
## 9. KU-KC Past Exam Question Papers app — Google Play
Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=kukc.pastexampapers
Cost: Free.
Needs KU login: No.
A free Android app by independent developer Swadik (Abubakari Faraji Bakari Omari), made for students taking agriculture, with KU examination papers inside. Version 9.8, updated 27 June 2026, about 21.6 MB, Android 5.0 and up. The app's own store screenshots, inspected for this list, show full Kenyatta University examination papers displayed in the app, with the university crest on the paper.
How to get in:
1. Open the Google Play link above and install the app.
2. Open it and browse the agriculture papers.
3. Read and revise from the papers in the app.
Best for: Agriculture students who want papers on their phone, offline, without logging in anywhere.
Watch out for: It is narrow — agriculture only — and it is an independent app, not a KU publication. It has around 280 installs, so treat it as a useful extra source rather than your only one. Support is at abubakarifaraji84@gmail.com.
## 10. Kenyatta University App by CloudSoft Ltd — Google Play
Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kuapp.student2023
Cost: Free.
Needs KU login: Yes — for the portal and e-learning inside it.
This free Android app, by CloudSoft Ltd, has more than 10,000 downloads and was updated on 20 October 2025. It does not host papers itself. What it does is put KU's own systems one tap away: the student portal, the university website and the digital learning platform, where the papers in entries 1 to 3 live.
How to get in:
1. Install the app from the Google Play link above.
2. Open it and tap through to the student portal or the digital learning platform.
3. Log in with your KU student credentials and go to your unit's materials.
Best for: Students who keep losing the portal links, or who want the student portal and e-learning on their phone's home screen.
Watch out for: It is made by a third-party company, not by Kenyatta University. Never type your KU password into any app you do not trust — check that the pages it opens are the university's own addresses (portal.ku.ac.ke and the e-learning portal) before you log in.

## How to use this list well
Start with entries 1 and 2. They are free, they are KU's own, and they hold the real set papers. If your unit is there, you are done. If it is not, work down the list: Kenyaplex for breadth, StudoKe for marking schemes, Scribd and CourseHero for education and humanities units.
Match the paper to your course code and your unit outline. A paper is only useful if it is the same unit, the same level and roughly the same syllabus. Check the header on every paper — academic year, semester, degree programme and unit code — before you revise from it. IBP and DSVOL papers are set differently from regular programme papers, so do not mix them up.
Beware outdated papers. Kenyaplex's KU papers are mostly from 2007 to 2011. They still teach you how KU frames questions, but course content and unit codes have changed since then. If a paper is more than five years old, use it for question style and recurring topics, not as a map of this semester's syllabus.
Check for the marking scheme where one exists. Most sources on this list carry question papers only. StudoKe lists marking schemes for KU units, and some CourseHero files are marked with verified solutions. Where no scheme exists, work the paper and take it to your lecturer or tutorial group — a paper without answers still tells you what to study, but it cannot tell you whether your answer would pass.
Respect paid material. Some of these sites charge, and some pay the students who upload. Do not re-upload, resell or forward paid papers. Use them for your own revision, and if a classmate asks for one, send them the link so the person who made it is the one who benefits.
The fastest route is sometimes not a website. If your unit's most recent paper is not on any of these ten, ask your class representative or your lecturer. Class reps usually hold the previous semester's paper within days of the exam, and lecturers will often share one if you ask. Photocopy and bookshop points around the main campus also carry compiled past papers — ask at the counter for your school and unit, and check the paper's header before you pay.
## Frequently asked questions
Are Kenyatta University past papers free?
The official sources are. The library's MyLOFT route and the past papers archive cost nothing for KU students, and Kenyaplex, CollegeSidekick and the KU-KC app are free to read. StudoKe mixes free and paid items, and Scribd and CourseHero charge for full downloads — always read the price on the page before paying.
How recent are the papers on these sites?
The official archive holds papers from the 2023/2024 academic year, including BAC 820 and BAC 821 from April/May 2024 and LCC 309 from the first semester of 2023/2024. CollegeSidekick holds a DSVOL paper from the first trimester of 2021/2022, and the KU-KC app was updated in June 2026. Kenyaplex is the outlier — its KU papers are mostly from 2007 to 2011.
Where do I find marking schemes and answers?
StudoKe's KU Student Hub lists marking schemes alongside its past papers. Some CourseHero files carry verified solutions. Most other sources on this list are question papers only, so plan to work the paper and check your answers with your lecturer, your tutorial group or your course notes.
I cannot find my unit anywhere. What now?
Search by unit code rather than by course name — a paper filed under the wrong course title still turns up by code. Check your unit's page on the e-learning portal, ask your class representative, and use Kenyaplex's "Post a past paper" link to request it. If the paper is genuinely not online, your lecturer is the person who has it.
Do I need a KU student login to get past papers?
Not always. The past papers archive and Kenyaplex need no login at all. The library's MyLOFT route needs your KU corporate email, and the e-learning portal and student portal need your student credentials. Scribd, CourseHero, CollegeSidekick and StudoKe each need their own account, not a KU one.
