Applications for the Youth4Climate Services Innovation Hackathon close today, Friday 6 November 2026, with young climate innovators across the region urged to apply before the 5pm cut-off.

The hackathon, organised by the IGAD Climate Prediction and Applications Centre (ICPAC) in partnership with the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA), will run from 8 to 10 December 2026 in Nairobi. The winner will be announced on 10 December.

To participate, applicants must fill the form on ICPAC's official page by 6 November 2026. Partner notices put the cut-off at 5:00pm today.

Eligibility is strict. Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years old and nationals of, or based in, an IGAD member state. Kenya is an IGAD member state.

Crucially, applicants must have an existing climate-related digital tool, platform, product or solution that is functional or at pilot stage. Concept-only proposals without a demonstrable solution will not be eligible, ICPAC states on its official page.

Successful applicants must be able to demonstrate the solution and explain its functionality, its intended users, its current stage of development and its potential contribution to climate services. They must also be available to present their solutions to technical experts, the evaluation panel and potential partners in Nairobi in December.

The hackathon seeks youth-led innovations that strengthen the delivery, accessibility, relevance and use of climate services across the IGAD region, with solutions aimed at farmers, agro-pastoralists, pastoralists, extension workers, local institutions and other climate-sensitive sectors.

The application window opened on 19 October 2026.
