Murang'a University of Technology hosted its Cultural Week 2026 from Monday 26 to Friday 30 October 2026 at the Main Campus, under the theme "Beyond Boundaries, Embracing Identities", according to the university's own page, published 22 October and updated 24 October.

The week was billed as a celebration of cultural diversity, creativity, sportsmanship and talent, with students showcasing heritage and talent and taking part in sporting activities. An interschool league ran alongside the week, with semi-finals pitting the School of Business and Economics against the School of Engineering and Technology, among others, according to the same page. The hashtag for the week was #MUTCulversity. Daily activities started at 9:00am.

What happened at the closing, who won the league or the talent showcases, and what the week looked like on the ground have not been verified. No outcome, photograph or report of the closing ceremony was found, and none is claimed here.

The university also marked ten years since its charter on 7 October 2016, with a MUT@10 anniversary celebration held on Thursday 22 October 2026 at the Main Campus, under the theme "Celebrating a Decade of Sustainable Growth for Societal Transformation", streamed live on YouTube.

Separately, and handled with care: the university appealed for calm on 4 October as investigations continued into the death of Kelvin Murimi, a second-year student, after an alleged stabbing in Murang'a town on 3 October. The university cautioned that preliminary findings linking a fellow student to the incident should not be taken as a final determination of guilt. No further verified findings have been found, and nothing further is stated here. Sensitivity limits apply; no image connected to that death is used.

A reporting directive dated 15 October required all students to complete mandatory semester reporting through the student portal by Monday 19 October, ahead of end-of-semester examinations, with students who missed it to be presumed to have deferred or proceeded on academic leave, Education News reported on 18 October. That deadline has passed; no outcome figure has been verified.

What we could not verify: the Cultural Week outcome, winners or closing ceremony; any Murang'a-specific resumption notice dated 29–31 October; any further findings in the Murimi investigation.
