A memo dated 31 October 2026, received by Campus Pulse on the school corporate email and verified by Campus Pulse, tells Kenyatta University students that classes resume on Monday, 2 November 2026.
The memo is headed KENYATTA UNIVERSITY, OFFICE OF THE REGISTRAR (ACADEMIC), and marked INTERNAL MEMO. It is addressed to ALL STUDENTS, from the REGISTRAR (ACADEMIC), reference KU/RAC/GENCIR/45/VOL.3/80, subject RESUMPTION OF CLASSES.

Its first paragraph says: "Following the calling off of the industrial action by members of staff in the University, all activities for the First Semester, 2026/2027 Academic Year are expected to be undertaken as scheduled."
The next line is the order itself, in bold in the memo: "ALL students are therefore required to resume their studies as from Monday, 2nd November 2026 without fail."
Then comes a NOTE with two deadlines. On resumption, the memo says, all students will be required to clear all pending fees arrears by Friday 6th November, 2026, and complete unit registration by Friday 13th November, 2026. No other dates — no CAT, examination or graduation dates — are given in the memo, and Campus Pulse is not adding any from the pre-strike schedule.
The memo is signed PROF. PEREZ ONONO - OKELO, Ph.D, AG. REGISTRAR (ACADEMIC), and bears a Kenyatta University Office of the Registrar (Academic) stamp dated 31 OCT 2026. It is copied to the Vice-Chancellor, all Deputy Vice-Chancellors, all Registrars, Deans of Schools, Chairpersons of Departments, the Chief University Librarian, Directors of Campuses, Centres and Institutes, the Director of Student Affairs, the Director of Security Services, the Online Communication Manager, heads of sections in the Academic Division, the KUSA Chairperson and the KUSA Academic Secretary.
Read the memo itself in full in the image embedded above. The letterhead, the 31 October date, the reference number, the signature and the 31 OCT 2026 stamp are all visible on the document. The image is a crop of a phone screenshot of the memo received by Campus Pulse on the school corporate email, trimmed to the memo document only; no wording has been altered.
The national direction behind the memo is separately verified. The Universities Academic Staff Union (UASU), with KUSU and KUDHEIHA, signed a Return to Work Formula with the government and the Inter-Public Universities Councils Consultative Forum on the evening of Friday, 30 October, ending the strike that began on 2 October, with lecturers directed to resume on Monday, 2 November. MMU has already put its own resumption in writing in a memo dated 30 October, and Pwani University has issued a revised calendar. KU students now have this memo in hand.
What we could not verify: Whether any revised KU timetable, CAT dates, examination dates or graduation date follow from it — none are in the memo, and none are stated here. Whether the fees and unit-registration deadlines will be enforced exactly as written — the memo states them; any extension or clarification must come from KU itself.
