Edwin Sifuna has taken Linda Mwananchi to Kwale, a day after the movement unveiled its new identity and secretariat in Lavington, Nairobi, on Friday, 30 October 2026.
The tour, led by Sifuna, covers several towns in Kwale, with the main rally scheduled for Ukunda Showground at 3pm on Saturday, 31 October, Capital FM reported. The caravan was expected to pass through Samburu Town, Kinango Town, Kombani Junction and Lunga Lunga before concluding with the main gathering in Ukunda. This is the movement's first major grassroots tour of the Coast region, and its first public meeting after the launch — a promise Sifuna said he made to Coast leaders. The rally had not concluded at the time of the reports used for this article, and no outcome or independent attendance figure is stated here.
Speaking at a public meeting in Kwale, Sifuna warned politicians seeking leadership positions about discipline and respect for local leaders. "Without discipline, we are not going anywhere," he told supporters, Capital FM reported, warning that political ambitions should not come at the expense of respect for fellow leaders. He criticised politicians who attend meetings in areas where they are not seeking elective positions but attempt to occupy prominent seats ahead of local aspirants and representatives. "Today is Kwale's day. We want local leaders to have an opportunity to explain their issues and concerns," he added, telling his Nairobi team to allow Kwale politicians to determine the route and programme of the tour. He cited mineral exploitation and water shortages as issues the party wanted local leaders to highlight. He thanked residents for turning up in large numbers — his words, as reported, not an independent crowd count.
At the Kwale rally, Sifuna faulted President William Ruto over Kwale's mineral resources and the proposed Mrima mineral project, People Daily reported on Saturday afternoon. "Sisi hatuna haja na mwekezaji. Sisi tuna haja na mwananchi wa Kwale," Sifuna said — the priority should be the people of Kwale rather than investors. He questioned the transparency of mining agreements and demanded residents be informed about how they would benefit, claiming the government was reluctant to disclose details of major investment agreements. He cited Best Titanium's previous operations, claiming communities had yet to receive compensation after the company completed its activities and left the area, and challenged Mining Cabinet Secretary Hassan Joho and Kwale Governor Fatuma Achani to explain what steps they had taken to secure compensation for affected residents. He also criticised irregularities in title deeds, alleging some documents issued to residents along the Coast contained maps that did not accurately reflect the boundaries of their land. These are Sifuna's claims as reported; they are attributed to him here and are not stated as findings by Campus Pulse.
Earlier in the tour, during a rainy engagement in Kwale, Sifuna declined to be shielded by an umbrella, TUKO reported. "Boss, if someone is being rained on, let's just all be rained on. What's up with you? I am not made of sugar. Come rain or sunshine, I cannot melt," he said jokingly, insisting he should not receive special treatment while other people were getting soaked. While addressing political aspirants in Kwale, he recalled promising that the county would host the first major rally after the formalisation of the Linda Mwananchi Movement, and asked: "Have I fulfilled the promise or not?"
The proposed Linda Mwananchi leadership unveiled on 30 October remains subject to ratification at the National Delegates Convention scheduled for 13 November, as previously reported. Nothing in the Kwale reports used here settles that leadership list, the aspirant registration outcome, or the convention programme.
