KCA University opened its fifth Innovation Week and Industry Summit on Monday 27 October 2026 at its Ruaraka campus, under the theme "Learn! Lead! Transform!"
Capital FM reported the opening on 27 October. Among those present were Principal Secretary Dr Juma Mukhwana, Bidco Africa's Vimal Shah, European Union Ambassador Andreas Peschke, and Vice Chancellor Prof. Isaiah Wakindiki.
The numbers behind the week, as reported: more than KSh 40 million in research grants, more than 25 patent applications filed, and eight startups supported in recent years. The Elevate AI project, covering more than 1,000 faculty members and students in Kenya and Rwanda, was part of the showcase. Innovations on show included OmniSense, a remote equipment monitoring system; biodegradable diapers; Kessler Aegis, a space tracking platform; and Fortify AI, a business risk tool. The summit ended on Thursday 29 October. Entry was free and open to the public, and the programme featured exhibitions, industry-led forums, masterclasses, innovation challenges, pitch competitions and mentorship sessions, according to the university's summit page.
What the reporting does not establish: what any of those innovations does in detail, which students or teams built them, or what funding or partnerships followed the summit. None of that is invented here.
In lighter news from the same campus: a memo that circulated on 21 October, joking that Manchester United fans should sleep in after a 4–1 defeat to Como, was labelled "Office of the University (Unofficial)". It was a joke, reported as a joke by TUKO, Education News and Ghanamma — and it must never be presented as an official KCA directive.
KCA's 21st graduation ceremony is set for Friday 27 November 2026, with clearance completed by 23 October and a provisional graduation list published at 5pm on 30 October. Names and registration numbers from that list must not be reproduced.
What we could not verify: the detail of any showcased innovation beyond its name as reported; any funding, partnership or award outcome from the summit; any KCA-specific resumption notice dated 29–31 October.
